I'm back in the swing of things and I'm ready to shoot. I want to capture people in their innocence or perhaps doing what they do. Whatever that may be. I'll be embarking on a personal endeavor over the course of the next month or so that is of particular interest to me. That being people! I want to shoot the everyday Joe in the midst of their daily routine, doing what they do. More than likely I'll be shooting them in their natural surroundings but some may very well be in the studio. I'll let them decide. I'm looking forward to a fun project that's both fun, energizing and interesting. It'll be curious as to where this is going to lead. I'll keep you'll posted on my progress. Give me a shout out if you have any questions or suggestions. I want this endeavor to be fun light and interactive. Talk to you soon...
Ok everyone. Here are a few from the archives. I have some high school, college and professional action shots, I LOVE MY JOB!! Let me know what you all think. I'll be commenting on some things in and around the industry in upcoming posts. I hope you enjoy!
Okay everyone. I know I've been away for quite some time. But I'm back, ready to shoot and ready to BLOG! My last entry talked about the The Future... And The Future is here. I've been doing quite a bit of shooting lately some sports, some editorial and some portraiture. All in all I've been having a blast. If I could shoot sports all day every day, I would. Since that isn't the case, I'm going to shift my focus to some Editorial work. There' s quite a bit to shoot in the area and I'm going to share my findings with everyone. So stay tuned and get ready to see what I've been up to and what I have on my agenda. Thanks for stopping by!
Moving forward, I see a bunch of opportunities in the world of photojournalism as it pertains to sports photography. Particularly in my area. Given the state of the economy, one has to be particularly creative not only in your approach, but in the delivery of your product and service as well. My goal for this year is to become a permanent fixture as the photographer for a sports related entity. I have a few good leads that I'm sure will pan out. I'm confident that the year will prove to be very good in spite of the economy. The key here is to just make it happen!
Good day everyone! I've been meaning to begin a blog for quite some time now given that I thoroughly enjoy writing AND photography. So I've finally got my but in gear and started my blog which in this case combines two of greatest pleasures life holds for me...writing and photography!
The past few years have been interestingly challenging in the world of photography for myself. Apprehension coupled with uncertainty have paralyzed me in the and kept me from moving forward. Having realized this, it's time to move forward and forget about what has happened up to this point. Moving forward I will make a conscious effort to liberate myself from those mental chains of doubt and uncertainty and JUST GO FOR IT!
Hey everyone! I'm Dirk Weaver, a freelance photographer based out of Charlotte, NC. I am using this blog to get my thoughts, opinions, and ideas on the web.
I started making images in 2004 when I bought my first digital camera, a Nikon D70. I didn't know much about photography nor did I know very many photographers, but I was determined to make it work and pursue Photojournalism as career and flee the cubicle jungle for good. I took a few classes, read several websites and made a lot of mistakes early on, which I am truly grateful for.
My blog will be chronicle of my thoughts, ideas, perspectives and personal experiences, both good and bad, as they pertain to photography and the world around us. I hope that you find my writings both helpful as well as entertaining and that they help you avoid some of the challenges that I had early on.
A sincere Thank You goes out to the many people I have met along the way, both photographers and other wise. All of you have helped in many ways in my aspirations to make photography a career. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions, concerns, comments or criticisms.
